Heavy rains descended upon the region on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning, drenching the state in much-needed relief. Mahbubnagar witnessed a remarkable deluge, receiving an astonishing 158mm of rainfall, setting a new record for the state.
Hyderabad, the bustling heart of Telangana, was not spared from nature’s grandeur either. Starting at 5 am on Sunday, the city experienced an unexpected downpour, accompanied by resounding thunderclaps and electrifying lightning. The city’s streets were transformed into waterways as several areas found themselves submerged under the relentless cascade. By 8 am, Khairtabad had accumulated a staggering 88mm of rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that these rainy conditions will persist for the next week, prompting the issuance of a yellow alert for various regions within the state.
On Sunday, a yellow alert has been issued for the following areas: Adilabad, KomaramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Janagaon.
As we move into Monday, an orange alert takes precedence for Adilabad, KomaramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Janagaon, and Siddipet. Meanwhile, a yellow alert remains in effect for Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.
