Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, marking his bid for a third consecutive term from the historic constituency. Accompanied by senior BJP leaders and allies from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the Prime Minister submitted his nomination documents to the Election Returning Officer at the Varanasi District Collector’s office on Tuesday.
Modi’s nomination event was attended by prominent BJP figures and leaders of the NDA coalition, underscoring the significance of his candidacy in the upcoming elections. The Prime Minister, who has secured victory twice previously from Varanasi, seeks to continue his electoral success in the region.
Before filing his nomination, Modi participated in religious rituals at the Dasashwamedh Ghat, located on the banks of the revered Ganges River. Amid Vedic chants and prayers, he conducted Ganga Puja, expressing his dedication to the welfare of the nation and its people.
Speaking at the Ghat, Pujari Raman expressed his support for Modi’s re-election bid, stating his desire for the Prime Minister to lead India to global prominence. Another priest, Santhosh Narayan, bestowed blessings upon Modi, anticipating a resounding victory in the upcoming polls.
Following the religious ceremonies, Prime Minister Modi embarked on a brief cruise along the Ganges in a specially arranged boat. The visit to Kashi Visveswar, a significant religious site, concluded the Prime Minister’s eventful day in Varanasi.
Prime Minister Modi’s nomination underscores the BJP’s commitment to retaining Varanasi, a key electoral stronghold, while projecting a strong message of leadership continuity and development for the region. The upcoming elections will witness heightened political activity as candidates vie for mandates in one of India’s most closely watched constituencies.
